The warm tropical waters of Socotra Island are legendary among divers for their dramatically sheer walls rising from the depths to within inches of the surface and capped by thriving coral reefs. Scuba diving on Socotra has grown in popularity among island visitors in recent years. It’s a great place for scuba diving because of its distinctive dive sites and calm waters. Socotra is home to everything, from ancient wrecks that are ideal for exploration to coral reefs teeming with marine life.
The island and its surroundings are ideal for a peaceful holiday because of the warm, comforting temperature and stunningly untouched landscape. Socotra Island has many sites for Snorkeling and Diving which include four areas:
Dihamri Marine Protected Area is one of the most interesting sites, a place of great underwater beauty where juvenile fish grow before dispersing to other areas along the coast. While Adho & Rosh Marine Protected Area is known for a reef that stretches about 1km off the coast, a place where night dives are suitable.
Diving in Socotra is almost possible all year long, but it’s best from September to October, and from March to May, because of the monsoon season. During that period, the visibility is the highest, even though it generally ranges from 10 to 40 meters.
